ZONEDE launches a tribometer, featuring ultra-high linearity of ≤0.1% FS. This core characteristic ensures outstanding repeatability and accurate friction & wear test data for material R&D under optional high- and low-temperature environments.

Friction and wear testing is the foundation of material performance evaluation. In reciprocating tribology tests, even tiny load deviations can completely distort the test results for friction coefficient and wear morphology. For tribology researchers and material engineers, stable and linear load output is the most critical prerequisite to obtain credible experimental data. ZONEDE  addresses this industry pain point with its newly released  Tribometer, and its standout core feature is excellent linearity performance of ≤0.1% FS.

Tribometer

Linearity refers to the consistency between the actual applied load and the set load value throughout the full measurement range. In tribometer testing, poor linearity introduces unpredictable systematic errors. When researchers compare anti-wear and friction-reducing properties of different materials, errors from non-linear load will make the contrast of experimental data lose reference value, wasting research time and material samples. The tribometer achieves linearity of ≤0.1% FS, which means the deviation between actual load and target load is controlled within 0.1% of full scale. This outstanding indicator eliminates load-related systematic errors in reciprocating friction tests.

This remarkable linearity is realized by the tribometer’s high-precision servo motor loading method. The servo loading structure precisely executes loading instructions and cooperates with the rigid cast iron machine body. The rigid machine structure suppresses vibration interference during reciprocating movement, avoiding extra load fluctuation caused by frame deformation. Together, the hardware system guarantees that the excellent ≤0.1% FS linearity can remain stable during long-time continuous reciprocating friction experiments. Whether in short-time quick material screening or long-duration wear fatigue tests, the load maintains linear response.

The high linearity characteristic greatly enhances data repeatability of reciprocating friction experiments. In the same test condition, repeated tests on identical specimens can produce highly consistent friction curves and wear data. This advantage fits perfectly with application scenarios including university tribology research, enterprise quality inspection, and new material R&D. Researchers no longer need to spend extra effort to filter invalid data caused by load nonlinearity, which improves the efficiency of material performance evaluation.

This linearity advantage also works well with the optional high- and low-temperature configuration of the tribometer. When conducting extreme environment friction tests, temperature change may cause slight deformation of equipment components. Benefiting from the servo loading system and rigid body design supporting ≤0.1% FS linearity, the instrument can still keep the linear load output stable even under high temperature or cryogenic test environments. The optional high-temperature unit supports room temperature to 1000°C (±3°C accuracy, customizable to1400°C), while the optional low-temperature unit ranges from -150°C to room temperature (±5°C accuracy, customizable to -190°C). In these extreme working conditions, the ≤0.1% FS linearity performance still supports reliable reciprocating friction testing.

As a reciprocating tribometer designed for reciprocating friction condition simulation, the tribometer simulates back-and-forth friction of moving components. The core ≤0.1% FS linearity ensures that all friction coefficient and wear pattern data captured in this simulation are trustworthy. The dynamic strain-type sensor (piezoelectric type, customizable) and 1000 Hz data acquisition rate can faithfully record friction signals based on stable linear load input.

In tribology research, data credibility is the core value of tribometer equipment. Many conventional reciprocating friction testers are limited by loading structures and cannot guarantee ultra-low linear error in the full load range. ZONEDE’s Tribometer focuses on breaking this limitation, taking ≤0.1% FS linearity as its core competitiveness. It provides researchers with a stable test foundation for evaluating material anti-wear and friction-reducing performance, supporting material innovation and quality verification across multiple industries.

For teams that pursue high-accuracy reciprocating friction testing, the tribometer with ≤0.1% FS linearity delivers consistent and dependable load control. It turns tribology experiments from a test full of uncertain variables into a quantifiable, repeatable scientific process.
