Discover the high temperature tribometer for precise friction and wear evaluation under controlled thermal conditions, supporting materials research and industrial testing.
ZONEDE has a high temperature tribometer designed to precisely evaluate wear volume and related parameters in different temperature environments.
The high temperature tribometer supports both pin-on-disk and ball-on-disk configurations, providing a flexible platform for high-speed rotating friction and wear testing. It is applied in bearing, gear, and other product R&D and testing, while optional high- and low-temperature chambers provide additional environmental control.
High-Speed Rotary Testing with Flexible Configurations
The high temperature tribometer uses a High-Speed Electric Spindle as its loading method, with a rated measurement load of 0.1 N–200 N, customizable according to testing requirements. Its maximum speed is 5000 r/min, with the option to reach 10000 r/min.
The spindle precision is specified as radial ≤6 μm and axial runout ≤0.001 mm, supporting stable rotational testing. The upper friction pair fixture is compatible with φ3 mm–φ6 mm components, including steel balls, stainless steel balls, ceramic balls, and cylindrical pins.
For measurement and data collection, the system uses a Dynamic Strain Type sensor, with piezoelectric-type customization available. Sensor accuracy is specified as repeatability ≤0.1% FS, with 24-bit sampling resolution. The data acquisition rate reaches 1000 Hz, while the maximum friction torque is 12 Nm.

High Temperature Tribometer for Controlled Thermal Conditions
Temperature adaptation is one of the key features of the high temperature tribometer. The optional high-temperature unit operates from room temperature to 1000°C, with ±3°C accuracy and customization available up to 1400°C. A purification system and inert gas atmosphere chamber are also available.
For low-temperature testing, the optional unit covers -150°C to room temperature, with ±3°C accuracy and customization available down to -190°C. These configurations allow users to select suitable temperature conditions for different friction and wear testing requirements.
The system is designed to support testing of various materials while maintaining controlled conditions, making it suitable for studies where temperature can influence friction behavior, wear volume, and related performance parameters.
Applications Across Research and Manufacturing
The high temperature tribometer is suitable for high-speed rotating friction testing of various materials, including applications simulating gear and bearing operating conditions. It is also widely applied in aerospace, automotive manufacturing, and other fields for scientific research and inspection.
The pin-on-disk and ball-on-disk configurations provide flexibility for different test arrangements, while the high-speed spindle enables researchers to evaluate friction and wear performance under controlled rotational conditions.
Precision, Adaptability, and Expandability
The high temperature tribometer combines several design advantages. Its high-speed stability is supported by a precision spindle with excellent dynamic balance and minimal vibration. Flexible modes support various upper friction-pair options for different material combinations.
Its temperature adaptation options include high- and low-temperature units, while optional purification and oxygen-free testing configurations provide additional environmental control. The system also features online precision cutting, equipped with an on-board turning structure and CNC handle control.
With an X-axis travel of 50 mm, a maximum rotation radius of 20 mm, and a specimen size of ≤φ60 mm (H≤15 mm), the high temperature tribometer provides a compact yet versatile platform for advanced friction and wear research.
By combining high-speed rotation, configurable friction pairs, temperature adaptability, precise sensing, and high-frequency data acquisition, the high temperature tribometer offers researchers and wear evaluation across demanding temperature conditions.
