Amidst a world undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, how China's manufacturing sector and manufacturing technologies should respond to emerging opportunities and challenges is a critical question that researchers and educators in the field of manufacturing technology must deeply contemplate. To this end, the Specialized Committee on High-Efficiency Machining Technology (formerly the East China Branch) under the Advanced Cutting Technology Research Society of the China Cutting Tool Association plans to host an academic symposium at Qilu University of Technology (Shandong Academy of Sciences) from October 30 to November 1, 2020.

The symposium aims to strengthen communication and connections among peers, as well as between established and emerging scholars. It seeks to facilitate discussions and exchanges regarding the latest advancements and research findings—encompassing new theories, technologies, methodologies, processes, and equipment—within the key areas of cutting and advanced manufacturing technologies. Furthermore, in alignment with the national science and technology planning directives issued amidst the current era of profound global change, the symposium will explore strategic research directions and approaches suited to this new landscape. The event will feature academic presentations by renowned scholars from domestic universities, fostering discussions on the most recent research progress in the fields of cutting and advanced manufacturing technologies. Concurrently, with a view to nurturing and training the next generation of talent within the Research Society, the symposium will organize academic exchange sessions specifically for young scholars, allowing young faculty members to share their academic and research journeys since their doctoral studies, thereby fostering their professional development.
