ZONEDE’s High Temperature Vickers Hardness Tester enables precise hardness testing from room temperature to 1200°C, supporting metals, ceramics, coatings, composites, and heat-treated materials.
As material performance evaluation becomes increasingly important across research and industrial applications, flexible friction and wear testing solutions are gaining attention. ZONEDE’s Friction and Wear Testing Machine is designed to combine reciprocating and rotating friction testing in one machine, providing a flexible platform for evaluating the tribological performance of various materials.
Dual-Mode Friction and Wear Testing
The core positioning of the Friction and Wear Testing Machine centers on its dual-mode integration. One machine supports both reciprocating and rotating testing modes, allowing users to switch between testing configurations through a simple fixture change. This design helps save laboratory space and equipment costs while supporting different friction and wear testing requirements.

The system is identified as a Friction and Wear Testing Machine in both linear reciprocating and high-speed rotating modes. In linear reciprocating mode, the rated measurement load is 1N–200N, with a linearity of ≤0.1% FS. A high-precision servo motor provides the loading method, with a maximum speed of 2000 r/min. The reciprocating frequency ranges from 0.1–20 Hz, while the reciprocating amplitude is 0–16 mm.
For high-speed rotating testing, the machine uses a high-speed electric spindle. Its maximum speed reaches 5000 r/min, with customization available up to 10000 r/min. The X-axis travel is 50 mm, and the maximum rotation radius is 20 mm.
High- and Low-Temperature Testing Options
Another feature of the system is its optional temperature configuration. The high-temperature unit covers room temperature to 1000°C, with ±3°C accuracy, and can be customized to 1400°C. An optional purification system and inert gas atmosphere chamber are also available.
For low-temperature applications, the optional unit covers −150°C to room temperature with ±5°C accuracy, and can be customized to −190°C. Cryogenic-resistant alloy fixtures are available for these testing conditions.
This combination enables the Friction and Wear Testing Machine to accommodate testing requirements across different temperature environments while maintaining the same core testing platform.
The machine is equipped with a dynamic strain-type sensor, with a piezoelectric type available for customization. Both testing modes provide 24-bit sensor sampling resolution and a 1000 Hz data acquisition rate.
The system uses a cast-iron base material, and features a rigid machine body with a precision drive to support consistent testing accuracy.
For data management, the system provides high-frequency acquisition capabilities, with Export to Excel and analysis using MATLAB, helping researchers process and analyze collected testing data according to their laboratory workflows.
Applications Across Material Research
The Friction and Wear Testing Machine is suitable for scenarios requiring dual-mode friction testing and is positioned for use across multiple industries for scientific research and inspection. Its testing capabilities can support comprehensive tribological performance evaluation of various materials.
The combination of linear reciprocating and high-speed rotating modes allows users to select the appropriate motion configuration for different experimental requirements. Optional high- and low-temperature chambers further extend the range of testing environments available on the platform.
With its dual-mode integration, precision drive system, multi-environment compatibility, and comprehensive data acquisition, the Friction and Wear Testing Machine provides a flexible approach to friction and wear testing. By combining multiple testing capabilities within one platform, the system is configured to support material research, inspection, and tribological performance evaluation across diverse experimental conditions.
