ZONEDE’s Shock Tube System provides controlled shock wave generation for high-pressure, high-speed gas flow research, supporting material testing, aerodynamic studies, sensor calibration, and engineering experiments.

Advanced experimental research increasingly requires reliable methods for studying materials, structures, sensors, and aerodynamic phenomena under rapidly changing pressure and high-speed gas flow conditions. The Shock Tube System developed by ZONEDE is designed to generate controlled shock waves and provide a stable experimental platform for high-temperature, high-pressure, and high-speed gas flow research.

The Shock Tube System uses high-velocity gas to generate shock waves, supporting controlled experimental conditions for material property testing, aerodynamic research, sensor calibration, and the study of shock-wave-related phenomena.

The system is designed around a 90 mm bore configuration, with a launch tube inner diameter of Φ90 mm and a nitrided inner wall. Its pressure range is specified at 0.5–5 MPa, while the direct wave pressure range is 0.05–0.5 MPa.

This configuration provides researchers with a controlled environment for investigating how different materials and components respond to shock wave loads and high-speed flow conditions. The system is also designed to provide stable pressure conditions for experimental research and repeatable testing procedures.

A remote control system is incorporated into the equipment, together with automatic inflation and membrane rupture functions. These features help simplify experimental operation and improve the efficiency of testing procedures.

Broad Research and Testing Applications

The Shock Tube System is positioned for a range of research and engineering applications. Its application fields include research on damage characteristics inflicted on objects by gas explosions, mechanisms of explosion trace formation under shock wave loads and debris impact, material property testing under high-velocity impact, fundamental aerodynamic research, and engineering tests involving protective structures and sensor calibration.

For material research, the system can be used to investigate material properties under high-velocity impact conditions. The platform also supports fundamental aerodynamic research where controlled shock wave and high-speed gas flow environments are required.

Sensor and precision instrument calibration is another application area. By providing controlled experimental conditions, the system can support calibration-related engineering tests for sensors and precision instruments.

The system is configured for testing a variety of samples, including metal materials and structural components, composite materials, protective armor and impact-resistant materials, explosion trace samples, and sensors and precision instruments for calibration purposes.

This range of testable samples makes the Shock Tube System applicable to both material-focused research and engineering experiments involving sensing and measurement equipment.

For the 90 mm bore configuration, the Shock Tube System has a footprint of approximately 6 m × 2 m. The high-pressure tube has a specified yield strength of ≥930 MPa (42CrMo).

The equipment combines pressure control, remote operation, and automated experimental functions in one integrated platform. According to the product information, the launch tube caliber and gas pressure range can also be customized to meet specific experimental requirements.

One of the system's core advantages is its focus on controlled and efficient operation. Remote control, an isolation zone, and automated experimental procedures are designed to support convenient operation during testing.

Its pressure stability is intended to provide repeatable shock wave pressure conditions, while automated gas charging and diaphragm rupture mechanisms help improve experimental efficiency.

The system also emphasizes customization. The launch tube caliber and gas pressure range can be adjusted according to specific research requirements, allowing the platform to accommodate different experimental configurations.

With its controlled shock wave generation, 90 mm bore configuration, remote operation, automated functions, and customizable pressure parameters, the Shock Tube System provides a specialized platform for scientific research, material testing, aerodynamic studies, and sensor calibration. It brings together precision, versatility, efficiency, and configurable experimental conditions for laboratories and engineering teams conducting advanced shock wave research.
