ZONEDE’s High-Temperature Rockwell Hardness Tester enables accurate in-situ hardness testing from room temperature to 500°C, with optional testing up to 1000°C. It supports Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell scales for metals, alloys, coatings, and heat-treated materials.
The Rockwell hardness tester is engineered for use from room temperature up to 500°C, with an optional configuration extending the testing temperature to 1000°C. By enabling measurements while specimens remain at elevated temperatures, the system provides a practical approach to evaluating metals, alloys, heat-treated materials, and surface-engineered components under conditions closer to their actual working environments.
Traditional hardness evaluation often requires a specimen to be removed from a high-temperature environment and cooled before measurement. The Rockwell hardness tester is designed around a different concept: in-situ high-temperature testing.

Its testing system can perform Rockwell hardness measurements directly at elevated temperatures, allowing researchers and engineers to evaluate material performance without removing or cooling the specimen. This capability is particularly valuable for understanding how materials respond to controlled thermal conditions.
The system supports all Rockwell and Superficial Rockwell scales and uses a diamond Rockwell indenter with a 120° cone angle. Its fully automatic, programmable loading mode allows the testing sequence to be controlled consistently, helping establish repeatable measurement procedures.
The high-temperature Rockwell hardness tester is positioned for a range of applications.
For high-temperature Rockwell hardness testing, it enables hardness measurement of metals, alloys, and engineering materials at elevated temperatures. In heat treatment and surface engineering, it can be used to evaluate materials subjected to carburized, nitrided, induction-hardened, and other surface-treatment processes.
The system is also suitable for thin materials and coatings, supporting hardness testing of thin plates, surface coatings, and components where Rockwell or Superficial Rockwell scales are required.
For tool and component performance evaluation, the tester can assess cutting tools, bearings, molds, and other wear-resistant components under high-temperature conditions. Meanwhile, research institutions, universities, laboratories, and quality-control teams can use it for material characterization and performance evaluation.
Precise Temperature Control for Consistent Results
Temperature stability is a central feature of the system. The tester uses a molybdenum disilicide heating system to provide stable temperature control with an accuracy of ±1°C.
The controlled heating environment supports testing from room temperature to 500°C, while the optional configuration can reach 1000°C. This makes the Rockwell hardness tester suitable for experimental programs requiring controlled thermal conditions and repeatable testing sequences.
An optional inert atmosphere protection system is also available. The closed-loop gas purification system can maintain oxygen and moisture levels below 1 ppm, helping minimize oxidation during high-temperature testing of sensitive materials.
Programmable Testing for Repeatable Evaluation
Automation is another key advantage of the Rockwell hardness tester. Loading, dwell time, unloading, and optical measurement operations can be executed according to programmed test sequences.
This program-controlled approach helps create consistent testing procedures while reducing variation between individual operations. Combined with precise temperature control, it provides a stable platform for long-duration and repeated high-temperature hardness evaluation.
The tester is designed for specimens up to Φ15 × 10 mm, with a main unit size of 480 mm × 230 mm × 770 mm. Its specified test forces include minor loads of 3 kgf and 10 kgf, and major loads of 15 kgf, 30 kgf, 45 kgf, 60 kgf, 100 kgf, and 150 kgf.
As materials are increasingly developed for demanding thermal environments, hardness testing needs to go beyond room-temperature measurements. The high-temperature Rockwell hardness tester provides a dedicated solution for examining hardness behavior under controlled elevated temperatures.
With in-situ testing, programmable test sequences, ±1°C temperature control, optional inert atmosphere protection, and a stable long-duration testing system, the Rockwell hardness tester is built to support consistent and reliable material evaluation.
For metals and alloys, heat-treated materials, surface-hardened components, thin plates, protective coatings, and engineering components, this Rockwell hardness tester offers a focused testing platform for high-temperature research, quality control, and industrial performance assessment.
